This year Professor Cecilia McCallum became associate editor of the leading journal for the anthropology of lowland South America, part of a team of 4 editors headed by Susana Viegas of ICS/Lisbon. They have published the first volume V.18 (1), which includes a Book Forum.
The Forum, “Impediments and Difficulties with the Implementation of the Rights of Indigenous People in Brazil” , a collection of short articles by Brazilian anthropologists and an indigenous lawyer, Samara Pataxó, makes clear the journal’s ethical commitment to the fight against the politics of murder that has been waged against indigenous people and their territories in Brazil.
